Kasai Kyoshou Doneghan Empty
PostSubject: Kasai Kyoshou Doneghan   Kasai Kyoshou Doneghan EmptySun Sep 19, 2010 5:02 am

[[ Warning!! This is EXTREMELY LONG ]]

The tale of Kasai's origin is a long and twisted one.

He was birthed by a woman on the 10th of December, 2498, in a military science facility on Londinium. The pregnancy was not a completely natural thing, the male DNA provided was created in a lab by a high level Alliance scientist and professor and the woman was artificially inseminated. His mother was a willing participant in the experiment, giving her body to further the research of genetic modification. Tragically, his mother died during child birth, leaving the son to the Alliance scientists and military.
The mother's lover was allowed to name him, and he was named Bachiatari Kyoshou Kasai at his birth. During his earliest years he was treated almost exclusively as property of the Alliance, the culmination of a research project that still called for more testing. His physical and mental development were incredibly ahead of schedule, and the scientists discovered that his immune system was hyperactive compared to a normal individual's.

After four years of testing by the scientists, Kasai was taken from what he considered home into a less friendly environment; that of a classified military base. The ruthless individuals at the head of the project regarding the young boy decided that if he had been receiving a school education for a year, then he was ready to go to the next step; introduction to combat principles. Kasai was still young and didn't quite understand, due to limited exposure and knowledge, but the exercises and practice drills he was made to run were fun to him. At six he was a competent shot, and able to properly use momentum and the weight of an opponent to bring them down. He was one thing to the Alliance military, and one thing only, a very promising foray into their enhanced soldier program.

In 2506, one of the scientists that still handles Kasai mentions offhandedly that introducing him to 'the Pax' might yield interesting results as a counter to the testing on 'Miranda'. The military supervisor permits the scientists to continue, though it leads to unfortunate consequences. Not even eight years old, Kasai's initial response to the compound is extremely violent. He lashes out and kills the scientist closest to him with a scalpel. He is subdued and restrained, though many of the scientists are horrified and ask to leave the research team. Over the next days, Kasai's mental state is in complete flux. There are days where he barely moves at all, days where he violently continues to try and escape his restraints, and days where he is normal (albeit frantically afraid and confused). Eventually he is removed from the restraints, but left in an isolated room to minimize further casualties. One day while seeming quite passive, the boy finds a shard of glass and begins to cut into his right arm. By the time the boy was again restrained his arm was completely mutilated, though he retained complete use of it thanks to the doctors. These scars would later be chalked up to a misfired explosive by Kasai's military handlers when they discovered he had suppressed certain memories of his childhood.

The current team eventually had to call in the professor who had designed Kasai from his current project, to try and stabilize the child. Appalled at what he found, the professor wasted no time in finding out what had been done to his favorite 'son' and working to counteract it. He developed a serum that had the ability to stabilize Kasai's mental condition by affecting the way his brain processed inputs. This also caused many changes in Kasai's mental development, as well as his demeanor and personality. Another side effect was the repression of many of the traumatic events of his life so far, including not only the recent Pax exposure, but also the many tests he went through as an even younger child. This mental rift and instability would be something that would haunt the boy for the rest of his life.
The professor found the treatment of his 'child' to be unacceptable and gathered supporters to petitioned that Kasai be treated as what he was, a human individual, instead of government property. The former lover of Kasai's birth mother also rallied along with the professor, a high ranking Alliance military man named Frederick Henri Doneghan. Together the professor and Frederick had more than enough support to convince the military to stop treating Kasai like experimental property, on the condition that they were allowed to continue training him. Frederick moved into the program to help supervise the training, becoming a personal mentor to Kasai.

Kasai was eventually admitted into the military academies as part of his special training, and was always at the top of his classes. He received training in almost every field involved in combat and warfare, learning countless martial styles including hand-to-hand combat and weaponry. He also received extensive flight training, as well as a small amount of battlefield medicine (just enough to quickly patch himself up, nothing more).
He was deployed during the Unification War, but was only active for short periods at a time and he never participated in any major battles. Despite those facts he still learned the horrific truths of war when he was only twelve. After the war ended, Kasai related to his mentor that he wished to learn and experience different things than his current handlers were allowing him to. Frederick pulled some strings and had the boy moved into his elite special ops squad, similar to the one he had been deployed with during the war. Frederick also officially adopted Kasai on his notion that he felt like he was his father already, though Kasai opted to retain his birth name.
Now officially under his mentor's wing, Kasai was finally able to learn more than just the basic schooling he had received during his military training. Frederick taught him of philosophy, great thinkers and how to see and understand the 'verse and all it's things. He also taught him more advanced martial arts, fostering a strong self-discipline instead of the belittling submissive discipline the other sectors of the military taught.

A chance encounter with Reavers in 2513 left Kasai sufficiently addled, the repressed memories in his mind jostling at his subconscious. With further training from Frederick, Kasai learned how to repress emotions and maintain control over his mental state without needing the drug created by the professor, though he still used it in desperate situations where he could find peace no other way. Over time, Frederick's mentality seemed to change. He began speaking of a 'greater good', and started funding many projects that had to do with supporting the rim world colonists. Slowly, Frederick's team members began to leave his squad, though not by choice. They were required to be re-stationed as the Alliance was slowly draining resources from Frederick.
In 2514 Kasai was elevated to the status of 'agent', and was given his own pool of resources to complete special missions for the Alliance. He participated in many assassinations, as well as other covert operations which included espionage and subterfuge. He never lost contact with his mentor, always finding the time to send a holo-vid or visit the now poorly stationed Frederick.
In 2515 Kasai became privy to knowledge of one of Frederick's biggest plans. He had used most of his personal money to get a large freighter built, and with it he planned on personally taking supplies to the colonies that needed them. It was well-equipped, and could house six smaller fighter boats which would be used to defend against pirates. Kasai took leave during 2516 to help his mentor with his plans, and in the process met a woman who was two years his senior named Tenné Li. The two quickly fell for each other, and were often found flirting while not attending to their duties as Frederick's right and left hand on his operation. The work that they did together was greatly appreciated by the few colonies that they could reach, and they repelled more than one Reaver attack throughout the year.

To his dismay, in 2517 it was revealed to Kasai by the Alliance that Frederick had gone rogue. His actions from the past three years had constantly been throttling him towards his current position, some unknown factor causing him to sever his trust of the Alliance and begin to openly act against them. In response, Kasai was elevated to the status of 'operative' for his closeness to the target, and was sent to hunt down his former mentor and all of the disciples he had rallied against the Alliance.
Over the next year, Kasai tracked down, confronted, and killed many of his former colleagues. Some had served with Frederick in his special forces squad, and others had worked with Frederick on his colonist relief effort.
Kasai had trouble believing all of what he had been told was true, as Frederick's intentions of helping the colonists seemed genuine and didn't go against what the Alliance stood for, but (to his recollection) he had no reason to doubt what the Alliance had told him. It pained him greatly when the trail of Frederick's disciples lead him to his once lover, Tenné. He tried to convince her to turn herself in, he had the power now to keep her safe from punishment too harsh. But she was adamant in her beliefs, stating that it was he who was in the wrong and that his eyes needed to be open. He would regret following his orders, but after a long fight he struck Tenné down. Out of distraught and personal conflict he dropped his weapon and fled, leaving his former lover to die.
With nothing left for himself, he eventually caught up with his former mentor in 2518, aboard the very ship that had been built to support the colonists. He had nothing left in life but to carry out his orders, and he intended to do so. The fight between adoptive father and son was short and brutal, the former's injuries being more substantial and taking his life. Feeling the urge to search for clues, Kasai scoured the freighter for any doses of information that could help him understand what had made his former mentor who was devoted to the Alliance turn on it so harshly.

To his horror, he found just that. Stashed in Frederick's personal room was a treasure trove of data, holo-vids, research notices, and many other things pointing out atrocities committed and perpetuated by the Alliance. He began to remember all the things about his childhood he had forgotten, many of the holo-vids being of himself in the early stages of his life. The most disturbing were those of his first exposure to Pax and his subsequent mutilation of his right forearm and hand. The only thing that brought salvation to his drowning soul were recordings of his mother he had never known. Conversations she and Frederick had, about many things. Videos of her working in the lab with the professor who had designed Kasai. Audio of her during the pregnancy. And the single most bone chilling thing Kasai would ever hear; his mother's last words to Frederick as she faded away.
"He's destined for greatness, Don. He's going to fix something, I don't know what but I know he will. He's going to make up for our mistakes."
After that he also understood his mentor's last words, "She said it so many times, Bach. Don't waste it. Don't make her a liar."

He filed for an elongated leave, stating that he needed time for personal recovery. He was granted it due to his exemplary service, and he spent the time quietly contemplating a way he could make up for his transgressions. Not months later a broadcast went out by a captain named Malcolm Reynolds, which proved what the data Frederick had gathered suggested at. And Kasai knew, he knew what he was. He immediately petitioned to resign from his station in the military as an 'operative'. When stated by the council that all agents choose to give their lives for the greater will of the Alliance he simply responded,
"If you'll refer to my classified files, your honor, you will see I was not given a choice."
He was allowed to resign, and left the core systems. Although he would always have special privileges within the Alliance due to his exemplary life-long service, he dared not touch their resources unless he had no other options.

Over the next two years he changed his personal identity, dropping his given first name, reversing his last and middle names, and taking his mentor's surname. He also fostered an alias, Bach Kaiser, which he created as a mercenary who had an agenda against the Alliance and acted as him to openly defy them and foil their efforts on many occasions.
He perpetuated rumors of Bach's identifying trait, a tattoo of a traditional chinese dragon coiled along the entirety of his right arm. When acting as Bach, he wears a sophisticated suit of armor and never takes his helmet off. The armor was gifted to him by the deceased Frederick along with his trademark ship, which had been dubbed the White Lion. The ship was a somewhat small fighter frigate, unregistered and outfitted to give off either false readings or none at all.

Aside from acting as Bach, Kasai also got back in touch with his now retired genetic designer in order to maintain a supply of his meds, just in case. He also took on many odd jobs as himself, trying to lay low in between each job he did as Bach.
Kasai's actual identifying traits are; a scar running over his nose which starts above his left eye and ends below his right (a souvenir from his fight with Tenné), a scar running from his left shoulder down to his right hip bone (a souvenir from his fight with his mentor), a tattoo of a tribally designed mouth bearing fangs on his right bicep (a mirror of the tattoo Tenné had on her left bicep), a tattoo of a tribally designed dragon running from the bottom of his neck to the back of his left shoulder, and a tattoo of a circle on the palm of his right hand which inside has the japanese kanji for hope and perseverance.

About a month ago, while 'celebrating' the loss of his former lover; Kasai was accosted by a group of clever thugs who, after weeks of watching him, thought him to be Bach Kaiser. Although they were in fact correct, he protested the fact, stating that he was just a lonely drunken merc, and it wasn't his fault if his favorite coat just happened to be gray like Bach's supposedly was. The men forced a confrontation, and after a drawn out scuffle they knocked him unconscious and stole the White Lion. He'd been tracking his ship from where it was taken from him on Newhall when he encountered Quinn and the crew of the Vega.

[[ I told you it was long ]]

[[ I'll also post his general physical description from my profile on tk ]]

Kasai stands an average five feet eight, gifted with a taut body on a healthy frame. He wears his black hair in a buzzhawk and sports a long goatee, along with trimmed chops. His eyes are a bright blue, though the right is more dull in color in comparison to his left.

His face gives away his mixed heritage, his skin tone begetting his Caucasian ancestry, but his eyes hinting at Asian influences in his genetics. A scar runs from his forehead, over the bridge of his nose, and onto his right cheek. He has three helix piercings on his right ear, usually affixed with matching loops. Scarring on his cartilage speaks of other piercings which have closed over time.

His normal apparel is upper class; slacks, dress shirts, classy vests and ties; though he does occasionally wear jeans and even jumpsuits for prolonged manual labor. He often wears a hooded gray long coat, which he likes to call his 'trademark'. His right forearm is always wrapped in martial arts tape, and he always has a glove on his right hand.

At first glance his demeanor seems care free yet experienced, like that of a well traveled merc; but upon close inspection he can seem jittery and even animalistic in his movements and gestures. His eyes can be kind and inviting, but if looked into long enough can beget a strange detachment from his surroundings.

I found a picture that kind of works for representing Kasai... aside from obvious lack of scars.

I made it a thumbnail because it was TOO BIG.
